What Is Cross-Stitch?

As the name suggests, counted cross-stitching is reproducing a design from a chart by stitching it (in X shaped stitches) onto a piece of evenweave fabric.

A design chart comprises a grid containing symbols that identify where stitches should be stitched on the fabric. Each different symbol represents a different colour thread to be used, as detailed in the chart’s key.

The majority of charts in the Dave Marshall Football Collection are printed on a single sheet of size A4 paper, although some more intricate designs are supplied on 2 sheets.

Once complete, the stitched pattern can be framed, to make an attractive gift. Everything required to reproduce my designs (fabric, threads, needles, etc) you will find at your local craft shop.
